Heroes Today is headquartered in the beautiful City of Pittsburgh, Pa. The organization was founded by a veteran of the war in Iraq. Heroes Today is committed to provide assistance to veterans of all eras. While also focusing on the growing number of veterans in need from the Iraq and Afghanistan era wars.
It is our mission to empower the veteran to succeed, we are dedicated to the development and growth of our veterans. Therefore, Heroes Today is ready to assertively address the needs of homeless veterans both men and women. It is our intention to provide veterans with personal development resources, drug and alcohol addiction treatment through twelve step programs, spirituality enlightenment, food resources, shelter resources, family healing excercises, resume writting instruction, job development resources, job placement resources, community outreach programs and continuous after care follow up for long term stability and growth.
Currently we offer a range of services from intensive outreach to homeless veterans to assisting veterans with understanding and filing VA claims, supporting the families of Iraq/Afghanistan veterans and also peer to peer support for Iraq / Afghanistan veterans. One of the goals for the organization is to aquire property and begin a 26 week 3 stage program entitled the Transformational Development Program.
Our Founder / Executive Director Frederick J. Johnson Jr. also offers his services throughout the community for presentations to organizations and individuals on the issues that face our Iraq / Afghanistan veterans and our currently homeless veterans. He also shares firsthand information about the issues he faced upon his return from Iraq as a homeless veteran who suffered from an active drug/alcohol addiction.
These presentations are focused on educating individuals or groups on the issues of drug and alcohol abuse in the veteran community and the issues with personal development and career empowerment in the veteran community upon return from combat.
